Fundraising For Numbers Nightclub Documentary Reaches Final Stage Of Campaign
An eclectic Montrose nightclub (300 Westheimer) is the focus of a documentary called Friday I’m In Love, and it’s reached a critical point in production. As previously reported here at the Montrose District, to finish filming and editing the movie, the crew set up a Kickstarter campaign last month to raise a total of $40,000. With only three days left to meet their goal, the funds stand — as of publishing time — at $36,510.
On the homestretch of the fundraiser, the film’s director Marcus Pontello gave some insight to CultureMap into what drew him to the project in the first place.
“It’s a place that’s always been a kind of come-as-you-are, ‘be yourself’ establishment. That’s why Numbers is so great. […] To this day, you’ll go and see soccer moms and Midtown bros and goth queens and 60-year-old dominatrix slaves, all on the same dance floor.”
To see if Pontello’s “passion project” comes to life, watch the Kickstarter campaign as it nears completion this week.
