Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston (IHCH) presents Fragments by Leslie Guzman. Opening Saturday, November 5.  On view through November 17.

On this her first major solo exhibition, Guzmán includes photo based artworks in different media and techniques.

She usually draws her inspiration from photographs from her extensive travels. This time however she decided to go back in time and research within herself. Guzmán travels deep within her past, to her earliest memories and explores what she left behind when she left her country.

This exhibition is through the memories of Leslie Guzmán as if she were a young child and the viewer is witnessing her earliest memories. Memories that go too far back and she was too young that they are only fragments of a memory.

Leslie M. Guzmán was born in the country of eternal spring, Guatemala. Tucked away, surrounded by culturally rich countries, Mexico, Honduras, Belize, and El Salvador.

She is considered an up and coming artist and also starting to get her foot in the door in her native country. She has participated in exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art Warsaw in Poland, the annual statewide Rising Eyes of Texas and in over 20 collective art exhibitions.

Guzmán was raised and creates her art in Houston. She graduated from Houston Baptist University with a Bachelors of Studio Fine Arts.
