In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Anya Tish Gallery, we are delighted to present XX Part Two: 20th Anniversary Exhibition, the second of two group exhibitions of work by regional and international artists from the gallery roster. Opening Reception: Friday, June 3, 6:00 – 8:30 pm. Artists will be present. On view: June 3 – July 9, 2016.
The artwork on view will span the last few decades as well as a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, video, photography and installation.
Among the exhibited work will be a site-specific light installation by Adela Andea, a seminal monochromatic painting from 1978 by the prolific HJ Bott, a new and meticulous optical portrait by Maxim Wakultschik, and vintage photographs by acclaimed Soviet photographer Samariy Gurariy.
Especially for this exhibition, William Cannings has created a large-scale pearlescent “XX”, sculpted from inflated steel and evocative of weightless plastic.
XX will also feature a minimal, pristine white relief by George Grochocki, a new, expansive oil painting by Marcelyn McNeil, a kinetic monoprint by Orna Feinstein, and a realistic and politically charged drawing by Shannon Cannings, among others.
