Motorcycles. Leather. Rock n’ Roll. Vive La Velostacks!!!

Although originally starting in 2013, it was 2014 that saw The Velostacks transition from a nearly dead idea to a one of Houston’s hardest working rock n’ roll bands. Following a chance meeting at a motorcycle rally, Curtis W. DeGidio (Chrome Kickers, Chelsea Hotel, The Guillotines) and Donnie Stokes (UGH, Satanic Overlords of Rock n’ Roll) quickly went to work. Houston music scene legend, J.R. Delgado (Sugarshack, Humungos, Screech of Death) was brought aboard on bass guitar, with Arthur Hayes (The Next) jumping in on drums and Richard Crishock (Mister Pink, Texas Mod Crushers, Johnny Rioux and the Seven One Three) rounding out on lead guitar.

After playing a fury of shows around Houston and Austin, Dave Ng (Latchkey Kids) was brought aboard to take over drums. Playing many gigs and constantly writing, The Velostacksrecorded the “I Live and Die for Rock n’ Roll”, b/w “FU and Your Cocaine & “Brain Dead Cagers” single. As the undisputed kings of motorcycle leather rock n’ roll, The Velostacks, with help of their dedicated fan base ,The Sleazestack Militia, declared their intent of raising Hell and taking names.

Late 2015 saw more personnel changes as Curtis moved from rhythm guitar to guitar and lead vocals. Bass duties were picked up by Houston’s rock n’ roll legend Christian “The GFN” Best (The Down and Dirties, Hell City Kings, Whiskey River Revival) and drums passed to Nate Bandor (The Grizzly Band). With this lineup, The Velostacks will be entering the studio in December 2015 to record their first LP “Black Magic & Motor Oil” due out in early 2017.

Amplified Heat (Austin, TX)
http://amplifiedheat.com/

In a time where everybody has to put a label on a band to try and separate or distinguish what kind of music they play, Amplified Heat adopts Lemmy from Motorhead’s philosophy….ROCK AND ROLL! Not “rock”, “indie” or “alternative” but rock ‘n roll in the most raw and dirty sense of the term.

The trio consists of brothers Jim, Chris & Gian Ortiz, who have been playing music together since they were kids. Two thirds of the band were born in Cali, Colombia and the other in New Jersey. They spent their young lives in La Puente, California, a racially mixed community but predominantly hispanic. They bounced around between Colombia and California a few times before finally settling in Texas. The band pulls from a variety of influences including Cream, Blue Cheer, early ZZ Top, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and many more.

Signed to Austin-based label Arclight records in 2004, Amplified Heat has since recorded two full length albums “In For Sin” (2004) and most recently “How Do You Like The Sound Of That” (2007) and reissued their self titled EP (2006). They have made several appearances at the annual South by Southwest Festival, the Ohio based Emissions from the Monolith Festival and have shared the stage with Nashville Pussy, Young Heart Attack, Atomic Bitchwax, Lions, Alabama Thunderpussy, Dresden 45, Bible of the Devil, Honky, The Ugly Beats, Kylesa, Dirty Sweet, Dixie Witch, and The Black Angels, amongst many others.

Amplified Heat have been catching the attention of fans running the gamut from rock and roll, to blues, to punk, to jazz, and country enthusiasts across the country. Their electrifying sound and relentless stage act also caught the eyes and ears of Rolling Stone music editor David Fricke at 2007’s South by Southwest Festival, where he states they destroyed the crowd with a ‘boogie- war vengeance.’ He was also sighted at their most recent 2009 South by Southwest show.

Amplified Heat emits a truly menacing blues rock sound out of two massive walls of fender cabinets and a vintage Ludwig drum kit in between. The sound is loud and relentless. No mercy is given.
