The Menil Collection presents Matisse & Super Clay: Thoughts on Bronze in Rodin, Degas, and Matisse.
Artist Charles Ray delivers the second in a series of three Menil lectures:Thoughts on Sculpture.
The talks offer a rare opportunity to hear from a contemporary artist who has made significant and innovative contributions to the field.
Charles Ray (born 1953) is a Los Angeles-based American sculptor. He is known for his strange and enigmatic sculptures that draw the viewer’s perceptual judgments into question in jarring and unexpected ways.
Christopher Knight in the Los Angeles Times wrote that Ray’s “career as an artist…is easily among the most important of the last twenty years.”
The lecture series concludes on March 4.
Free Admission. Seating Limited.
