Anderson Fair presents The Lager Rhythms.
On April 23, 2016, Houston concert-goers will have a rare opportunity to attend a live performance by a group that’s been making music for decades, bringing their brand of high-energy sonic power to our fair city for but a single night. Yes, fans have been clamoring for quite a long time to see this group again here in Houston, so we are very excited about the show.
We’re speaking, of course, about Duran Duran.
But if you didn’t score tickets for that show, or felt like they were just too expensive, Lager Rhythms has a gig that night too.
Lager Rhythms, an eight-member Houston-based a cappella group of varying heights, performs an eclectic mix of classic and modern songs, from folk to rock to the weird and wonderful world of nerd-pop. (It’s a term we just made up, but if you’re reading this, you probably know what we mean.)
The group was founded in 1994 by five friends who knew each other partly from math and computer classes but mostly from tending bar at Valhalla, the graduate student pub at Rice University. Over the past twenty years we have grown in popularity as well as humility, while our audience has become more attractive and intelligent.
We are also not above a little brown-nosing. Lager Rhythms has performed at a wide range of venues from street corners to the Wortham Theater Center. We do clean up pretty nice when necessary. Luckily, Houston decency laws mean it is usually necessary. Lager Rhythms has released four CDs, all of which are professionally shrink-wrapped.
If a CD purchase isn’t exciting enough for you, feel free to hire us and we’ll be happy to provide a more personal experience.
