William Reaves | Sarah Foltz Fine Art announces Selections from the John Stone Collection of Texas Art, on view September 30-October 29, 2016.
For the better part of three decades Dallas collector, John Stone, has single-handedly forged one of the state’s premier collections of Texas art. Propelled by a collector’s passion and choosing with an unusually keen eye, Mr. Stone has meticulously assembled an impressive array of Texas paintings, including important examples by many of the state’s most prominent twentieth-century artists.
The gallery is honored to present over 60 select works from Mr. Stone’s incredible collection.
Among the works shown are exceptional examples by masters of Texas Impressionism, including Adele Brunet, L.O. Griffith, Eloise Polk-Magill, Clara Pancoast, Porfirio Salinas, Rolla Taylor, Robert Wood, as well as incredible offerings by Regionalist icons, such as Ed Bearden, Otis Dozier, William Elliott, DeForrest Judd, William Lester, and Emily Rutland.
The exhibition also presents fabulous examples of contemporary Texas regionalism from the Stone collection including paintings by Randy Bacon, Jon Flaming, Robert Harrison, Natalie Irwin, Roger Iker, Noe Perez, Bob Stuth-Wade and others.
All works are beautifully presented; most in the custom-made, hand-rubbed, gold-leafed frames which have become the hallmarks of Stone’s devoted stewardship of the works under his careful charge. This is an essential exhibition for every Texas collector in search of prime materials and one not to be missed.
We recommend marking these critical October dates on collector calendars NOW!
