Richard Cagle and the Voodoo Choir (Houston, TX)

I am often amazed by the number of Texas musicians that attain notoriety in European countries before getting any attention here at home… Case in point – Houston based Richard Cagle and the Voodoo Choir spent some time recently in the top 100 on the Denmark Blues Music Chart with their song ” You Got The Shake” from the CD “Texas Voodoo Blues”.  – No Depression

“Richard Cagle & the Voodoo Choir is rocking the house with their recently released CD, “Texas Voodoo Blues” chocked full of  unstoppable vibrant and energetic songs creatively crafted with down home Blues and an attitude of hard rock. Cagle’s vocals are rootsy and melodic while his exceptionally fine  quality cast of musicians clearly defines what chemistry is all about within a band. This group brings infectious bouncy bluesy beats and well written lyrics to life on “Sally Sue,” You Got the Shake,” or “Sweet Marie” which also features an awesome guitar solo. Bringing the beat down a notch, “Black Hearted Woman” still retains an aura of bluesy feel with soulful keys, softer drums, and sweet walking bass line. Check out the guitars on “Mystery Moon” as it playfully interplays with the gruff and tough vocals. Fans of Stevie Ray Vaugh and ZZ Top will want to add the superb collection of Texas style rockin’ Blues of “Texas Voodoo Blues” as this album will surely please and is well worth listening to.” – RadioIndy.com

Clay Melton Band (Houston, TX)

Ask any of the thousands of fans who’ve been energized by Clay Melton Band’s high octane shows throughout their home state of Texas, and they’ll usually use names like John Mayer and Foo Fighters to describe their explosive vibe. But dig deeper into Clay’s musical journey and you’ll hit on that classic moment at age 11 when he heard Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along The Watchtower” and his world quickly changed.  Influenced further by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, Clay was being hailed as a young master guitarist by his mid-teens. The Dallas International Guitar Festival proclaimed Clay “one of the TOP 10 Guitar Players in Texas under 20 years old” after his performance brought down the house.
