McGonigel’s Mucky Duck presents Raina Rose – Korby Lenker.

Hey Internet. I’m Raina Rose. I’m a songwriter, mama, and dreamer. I was born in LA in the early 80’s and my family moved to Portland, OR in 1988. I lived at my summer camp on the Oregon coast after high school in a cabin in the woods. I moved into a minivan and hit the road in 2005 when I was 23. I eventually moved to Austin, Texas where I married a bass player and now I have two baby boys. After fitting everything I owned in a Subaru, living in this ranch home in South Austin seems like living in the Taj Mahal. Not to mention, I am embarrassingly rich in friends and loved ones. I write songs, play in a few bands, I write a weekly column for No Depression magazine, I was in a movie called FOLK, and I really like you a lot. I’m also working on a memoir about traveling the interconnecting roadway of gigs and songs.

“If more clarification is needed, try this one: On the same day I received End of Endless False Starts I also received the mucho hyped discs by U2 (No Line On The Horizon) and Van Morrison’s Live Astral Weeks. Two weeks later, she’s still in my player alongside the new offerings by Neko Case and Eilen Jewell. Those other guys are up on a shelf somewhere.” -Mike Jurkovich, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange

“She’s not afraid to get plenty of grit under her fingernails with her words, and her voice has head-spinning potency. I only caught a couple songs, but she sold me.” -Sarah Hagerman, Steam Powered Preservation Society

Korby Lenker is a sneaky-good songwriter. And singer. And multi-instrumentalist.

An abbreviated list of Lenker’s achievements so far includes: a significant amount of airplay on the legendary Seattle indie rock station KEXP; a BBC 2 interview with Bob Harris, which is only about the highest honor a rootsy singer-songwriter touring the U.K. can get; opening slots for acts ranging from Willie Nelson to Ray LaMontagne, Nickel Creek, Keith Urban, Susan Tedeschi and Tristan Prettyman; a successful run with one of the hottest young West Coast bluegrass bands of the aughts; and wins in the Merlefest folk songwriting contest as well as the Kerrville Folk Festival’s elite New Folk songwriting competition.
