David E. Cowen, author of “The Madness of Empty Spaces” & “Seven Yards of Sorrow” (Weasel Press), is president of the Gulf Coast Poets Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas, & current editor of the HWA Horror Poetry Showcase Volume III. His poetry, fiction & non-fiction have appeared in a number of journals, e-zines, & anthologies such as Austin International Poetry Festival & Waco Word Fest 2016 anthologies. Vanessa Zimmer-Powell, poet & Speech-Language Pathologist, won the Rick Steve’s Haiku Award & received honors at the 2013 Austin International Poetry Fest. She has been published journals such as Borderlands, Texas Poetry Review, San Pedro River Review & Ekphrasis, as well as in anthologies such as Bearing the Mask: Southwestern Persona Poems; the Texas Poetry Calendar; & Mutabilis Press’ Untamable City: Poems on the Nature of Houston.
Both are juried poets for the 2016 Houston Poetry Fest.
