The Piper Jones Band combines the talents of Mucky Duck favorite piper EJ Jones of Clandestine and recent regular of the Grand Ole Opry Houston native Frances Cunningham.

Also joining EJ and Frances is pipe band drummer Dean Atkinson for a night of brilliant bagpipe tunes and Celtic songs.

The Piper Jones Band will be celebrating the release of their new CD Project, Crossing the Sabine, at the Duck on May 13th.

Coming home to Houston from North Carolina, Piper Jones band leader and Houston native, EJ Jones, is thrilled to release this new CD at his home club. Crossing the Sabine is the second release from the Piper Jones Band and is a unique project that will run for most of 2016.

It is “prototype CD,” because after the release at the Duck, new versions will be released online, some with additional guest artists. Over the summer, members of the band will also go on immersive musical journeys spanning the U.S., France and Scotland. They’ll unveil two more albums upon return that include further evolved takes on the initial compositions.

Piper Jones is a Celtic band centered around beautifully in-tune and energetically played Highland bagpipes accompanied by the percussive chords of the bouzouki and drum. In addition to beautiful instrumentals and traditional tunes from Ireland, Scotland, & Appalachia, the group sings powerful harmonies and will lead the audience in traditional celtic dances. Come celebrate this new music with the band and enjoy tunes to uplift, to simply enjoy, and to stir the Celtic Spirit!
