The Jung Center presents Persephone Rising: Awakening the Heroine Within.
Discover how the Eleusinian Mysteries – the most honored of ancient Greece’s mystery religions – can offer us insight into our contemporary lives. The Eleusinian Mysteries were precursors of our modern liberation and self-help movements and, in many ways, are returning in the actions of people today.
However, our society remains biased toward achievement and competition, leaving many of us driven and exhausted.
For balance, we need to awaken and integrate all four major characters of the Eleusinian stories: Demeter for opening our hearts, Persephone for connecting with our souls, Dionysus for experiencing embodied joy, and enough Zeus to make a living and develop healthy ego strength.
Through lecture and experiential exercises, we will recognize and enhance the Eleusinian archetypes that can best provide us with greater ease, work/life harmony, and personal fulfillment.
