Organ plus instruments, organ plus movies, organ plus gatherings! Entersect, the music and arts program at St. John the Divine, is excited to launch Organ Plus: a unique series that blends the beauty of pipe organ music with unexpected partnerships. Organ Plus kicks off on November 18 with Organ Plus Silent Film.
On Saturday, November 18 at 5:00 pm, Polish organist Karol Mossakowsi improvises accompaniments to silent films including Charlie Chaplin shorts as well as present organ solo favorites. The concert is followed by a garden reception accompanied by famous movie themes played on the carillon. Learn more about Organ Plus here.
This free concert also features the premiere of Entersect Kids, a parallel children’s program dedicated to connecting children to the arts. During the concert, children Kindergarten through age 10 will create their own silent film. The film will then be shown later in the concert, accompanied by the guest organist. Childcare for babies through PreK is also offered by certified and bonded childcare workers. Interested parents must sign up for this free program by November 16 at sjd.org/entersect-kids.
