Wrong Move (Falsche Bewegung)
Directed by Wim Wenders
1975, in German with Englsh subtitles
West German
103 minutes
Based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship, Wilhelm Meister (Rüdiger Vogler) hopes to become an author and broaden his horizons on a journey away from home, which his mother (Marianne Hoppe) gives him permission to make.
But the Wilhelm of Wrong Move must arrive at the painful recognition that a journey alone no longer leads to the desired goal.
Along the way he encounters a street singer struggling with his Nazi past, a mute girl (Nastassja Kinski in her first role), a poet, and an actress (Hanna Schygulla).
