Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant) is a Madison Avenue advertising executive mistakenly identified as a government agent by a group of foreign spies.
The spies try to kill Thornhill, who is eventually framed for murder while attempting to figure out what is happening.
On the run from the police, Thornhill meets a mysterious blonde (Eva Marie Saint) who helps him evade the authorities.
