Laura Rathe Fine Art, announces an exhibition featuring new works by acclaimed post-pop artist, Greg Miller, and renowned metal sculptor, Matt Devine.

“United” will be on view through November 26, 2016.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Greg Miller creates large-scale works in paint and collage that both salvage and deconstruct the most fleeting aspects of American visual culture. Gathering images and text from vintage magazines, comic books, and billboards, his colorful constructions unabashedly celebrate the rise of consumer culture while revealing the vitality of our collective memory. Miller combines images of glamorous women, consumer products, and cowboys with painted elements and graffiti-like sprays that recall the unbridled beauty of today’s urban streetscape and media-saturated culture.
Greg Miller studied at San Jose State University, UCLA, and the San Francisco Art Institute. A recipient of numerous awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, his work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Italy, and China, and is permanently held in the Charles Saatchi Collection, the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation Collection, the San Jose Museum of Art, and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City. Miller divides his time between New York, Los Angeles, and Austin.
Metal sculptor and self-taught artist, Matt Devine began honing his skills in 1995. His nonrepresentational sculptures composed of clean and harmonious forms appear weightless although fabricated from heavy metals such as steel, aluminum, and bronze. Devine’s practice is an ongoing search for harmony and balance in the face of a chaotic information-saturated culture. As he finds meditative space in his working process, so to does Devine hope that his approach to minimalist forms and controlled multiplicity guide viewers into a space of calm.
Devine’s work is currently on display at highly-regarded fine art galleries across the country. His creations can be found in private American collections in locations from Los Angeles to New York and international collections on five continents. Devine has also expanded his scope to include design and fabrication of large-scale public works on display in prominent urban settings. He currently works and resides in Petaluma, California.
