Bea Ying Projects presents Frolick in Bloom, an Art Exhibition at Joybird Furniture, 1735 Westheimer Rd. Opening  Sunday, April 3 from Noon- 5pm.

The featured artist, Frolick Henderson, is a Houston native who now lives in the rural hill country near the Guadalupe river. The collection of works displayed in the showroom, “Frolick in Bloom”, were created specifically with mid-century modern design aesthetic in mind.

The majority of the pieces are thickly layered in encaustic and resin and oil paint. Some precious stones such as Jasper can be found collaged along-side strips of fabrics such as burnt orange sequins and rubber fishnet. A series of wall flowers with lights that can be controlled from your smart phone, truly fill the showroom with joy. Pieces vary in size and span the $200-1500 price range.

The showroom sits directly across from Empire Cafe and is a great place to plop on a comfy couch after lunch and gaze at artwork. Joybird has engaged with local artists and host an exhibition every 3-4 months

Joybird Furniture (headquartered in L.A.) launched as an online retailer in 2014, providing customizable, mid-century inspired furniture to a market in need of an accessible price point. Joybird Houston is now the first showroom dedicated entirely to displaying the array of collections that brand has to offer. .

A new furniture store in Montrose may seem to be an unlikely place to find fine art, but the partnership is a wonderful opportunity to add beautiful paintings and furniture to the landscape of our lives.

Enjoy complimentary beverages and experience the work in-person on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!

Event organized and art curated by Bea Ying Projects.
