found: our selves

Curated by Carnegie Vanguard HS junior Lynn Huynh and in partnership with local Houston Couch Collective, “Found: Our Selves” explores what coming-of-age means in marginalized youths.

Throughout the coming of age process, teenagers struggle with societal standards that override individuality, pride, and identity aspects such as gender, sexual orientation, and race.

Through a diverse range of artistic mediums, the perspectives of the several teenage artists featured lend a look into each person’s individuality, voice the interpersonal and systemic oppression experienced, and provide a platform on which individuals reclaim their identity from what is dictated by societal expectations.
