Aurora Picture Show presents Flaherty Film Seminar (Houston). Co-presented with Rice Cinema. Moderated and Curated by Margarita de la Vega Hurtado.
Named after Robert Flaherty (Nanook of the North, Man of Aran, Louisiana Story) who is considered by many to be the father of documentary film, The Seminar began in 1955 when Flaherty’s widow, Frances, convened a group of filmmakers, critics, curators, musicians, and other film enthusiasts at the Flaherty farm in Vermont.
Aurora along with Margarita de la Vega Hurtado, Houston resident and former Executive Director of the Flaherty Film Seminar, will bring a one-day version of this unique program to Houston.
Filmmakers and film lovers are encouraged to join us for a selection of screenings of films from previous Flaherty seminars followed by small group discussions about the films.
Special guests to be announced!
