McGonigel’s Mucky Duck presents El Trio Grande.

Golden Triangle natives John Evans and Jesse Dayton will be joined on stage by Houston’s Mike Stinson, and all three will combine for a stellar night of intimate rockabilly, honky tonk and Texas singer-songwriter goodness.

John Evans – More Than Just Horn Rims and Hair. With music born on the bayous of Houston and injected with influences from the Mississippi Delta to the boroughs of NYC, John Evans has already taken over his hometown with EIGHT STRAIGHT YEARS OF HOUSTON PRESS AWARDS including six time BEST MALE VOCALIST, four time BEST SONGWRITER, two time MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR and BEST ROOTS ROCK.

Jesse Dayton – Jesse Dayton’s music effortlessly encompasses the diversity of Texas’ musical heritage. According to the Austin American-Statesman, “Dayton is the possessor of a tear-stained voice, a lost soul sensibility and probably a high degree of familiarity with the kinds of places mama warned you about.”

Originally hailing from Beaumont, Dayton was first exposed to classic honky-tonk and Lone Star blues, followed by contemporary rock and punk during his teenage years. An early ambition to sing and perform led Dayton to form the hard-driving rockabilly band the Road Kings 1980’s, followed by the alt-country group Alamo Jets in the 1990’s.

As a solo artist, Dayton has released six recordings, sharing the studio with country legends Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Ray Price, among many others. In 2009, after being commissioned by musician and movie director Rob Zombie to write, produce and perform a full-length album of “psychobilly tunes” for the horror flick Halloween 2, Dayton toured nationally with Rob Zombie’s Rock Tour. A beloved musical force, Jesse Dayton has been delighting audiences for decades with his rich voice and wide repertoire.

Mike Stinson – “Virginian Mike Stinson’s vibrant take on old-school honky tonk music has made him perhaps the leading L.A. light of the moment…he’s a formidable songsmith…” Chris Morris — Billboard Magazine

Mike Stinson’s style of music will never fade away or become passe because the truth is never out-of-date. Mike writes memorable heart-bleeding tales laced with pain, humor and regret, describing his straightforward sound as “Tear-in-your-beer honky-tonk and barnyard rock and roll.”

He’s the rare artist who doesn’t know how to be anything but true to himself. There is no pretense, no bullshit, not a damn thing between you and what’s in Mike’s heart. His distinctive voice isn’t like anything you’ve ever heard before, and that’s a good thing. He means what he sings. Mike delivers the message in such a uniquely authentic way, you’re not gonna forget what he has to say anytime soon.

Mike’s lyrics touch torn-up heartstrings and you know he understands. “Everybody’s got their own shit to worry about, and they don’t have to deal with the black cloud you’re carryin’ around. So I try not to do that with people…but I do it in my songs.”
