William Reaves/Sarah Foltz Fine Art presents David Caton: The Texas Landscape November 4-26, 2016.

For the first time in over twenty years, a grand assemblage of paintings by David Caton adorns the walls of a Houston gallery in what is certain to be one of the most memorable solo exhibitions of the season!

A product of The University of Houston and Yale’s MFA program, David Caton is now firmly established among the state’s foremost landscape painters. This exhibition attests to his exceptional capabilities, showing one stunning landscape composition after another, all reflecting the highest of standards of the genre.

The artist is a contemporary throwback to greats of the Hudson River School, his paintings celebrating the grand natural glories all about us, and enabling us to recount the soulful pleasures of simply encountering them. Caton’s paintings of the Big Bend and storied Texas Hill Country contain a mystical quality, beautifully conveying the intrinsic, as well as extrinsic virtues of these last open spaces.

He is among the best at capturing the subtle flow of Texas waters, the sharpness of Texas stone, and the acuity of Texas light, the interplay of which he aptly laces together in elegant painted metaphors. His works truly remind us of the sublime which still resides within our daily reach, and the exhibition reasserts his place as one of the most important Texas landscapist working today.

David Caton: The Texas Landscape will be on view November 4-26, 2016 at William Reaves | Sarah Foltz Fine Art with an opening reception Saturday, November 5th from 6-8:30pm.

The gallery will host a gallery talk with the artist on Saturday, November 19th from 2-4pm.
