Interstellar
Directed by Christopher Nolan
2014, USA
169 minutes, 35mm

Introduced by Mari Carmen Ramírez, the Wortham Curator of Latin American Art

In the near future, astronauts aboard the spacecraft Endurance travel through a wormhole in a last-ditch mission to find a new home for the people of Earth, which has been devastated by crop blight.

Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) leads the audacious, grueling mission to the edges of the universe—where Earth’s standards of time and space are spectacularly warped.

A deeply ambitious film even for a director as adept at thought-provoking thrillers as Christopher Nolan, Interstellar won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards and has been widely praised for its scope and scientific accuracy.

Ellen Burstyn, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and John Lithgow also star.
