The Menil Collection presents Conversation with the Artist: Sam Gilliam.
Menil Curator of Collections Paul R. Davis talks with Washington, D.C.–based artist Sam Gilliam about his work and the interracial Deluxe Show (1971) in Houston’s Fifth Ward.
His painting The St. Moritz Outside Mondrian (1984)—exhibited in Gilliam’s 2005 retrospective at the Corcoran Gallery and the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston is featured in the exhibition Affecting Presence.
