Chinese brush painting is an art form that has gained a tremendous amount of popularity in recent years. Its apparent simplicity and the oriental spirit behind this fascinating subject appeal to many who wish to explore traditional techniques.
Along with the bamboo, orchid, and plum blossom, the chrysanthemum is one of the “four aristocrats”, described in the Mustard-seed garden, a Chinese textbook from the seventeenth century.
Chrysanthemums are symbols of autumn and of loyalty and devotion.Through the subject matter of chrysanthemums, you will learn simplicity of brushwork, how to depict ideas with a unique perspective, and how to paint on rice paper (Shuan paper).
Each technique is demonstrated by the instructor. Students receive individual attention adapted to their particular skill level and interests. All levels.
