CARE International presents International Day of the Girl Child on October 19, 2016.
SWAT and Unicef Ust will host Alicia Keys short Film, “Let Me In”, to commemorate the United Nation’s Interational Day of the Girl.
The event will be hosted at the University of St. Thomas Old Bookstore, from 6pm to 7pm.
SWAT and Unicef Ust will co-host the event with CARE Action, the United States’ oldest international aid organization, to raise awareness and a call to action to help the girl refugees throughout the world.
Light appetizers and deserts will be served for free!
Aid to children refugees is one of the primary objectives of UNICEF. There are 2.4 million child refugees of the Syrian civil war. Children contsitute a 41% if the world’s total refugees from the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Women and girl refugees in Afria and Syria have been victimized by sexual violence and human trafficking. 32% of Syrian refugee girls have become child brides since the start of the conflict.
