About Catherine D. Anspon
Catherine Anspon is the Executive Editor, Visual Arts + Features at PaperCity Magazine. Anspon has covered the Texas art scene for more than 20 years, beginning in 1995 as a contributor to the Houston weekly Public News, then promoted to its Art Editor. She joined PaperCity magazine in 1998, where she is currently an Executive Editor, based in Houston.
Her PaperCity beat includes monthly columns for Houston and Dallas magazines, studio visits and artist profiles, museum and gallery exhibition reviews, market reports, collector interviews, features on living with art, and international stories, including travels to Shanghai and Moscow on assignment.
Her byline has also appeared in ArtNews as its Houston correspondent and Art & Antiques.
With a Master’s in Art History, this Pittsburgh native — who’s famously obsessed with Warhol — has served as an independent curator and is the author of the volume Texas Artists Today (Marquand Books, 2010).
Recent highlights include curating Talent in Texas VI: This Side of Paradise, in October 2015 for FotoFest and Houston Center for Photography; interviews with Christopher Rothko, David Salle, and Nate Lowman; and ongoing coverage of three Texas art fairs.
In the works: a second volume of Texas Artists Today, in collaboration with Dallas-based photographer James Bland.
