Anderson Fair presents Bo DePena.
Bo DePeña is from Laredo, TX – a city on the border of Mexico with a very unique cultural landscape. His experiences growing up on the border gave him an interesting perspective on life and music.
Some of Bo’s earliest influences included Texas blues acts like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lightning Hopkins. He was also greatly influenced by more regional players like The Texas Tornados and Freddy Fender. After living in major artistic hubs like Austin and New York, he became committed to developing a sound that incorporated elements of folk, country, and blues with hints of his border-town upbringing.
BDP has been touring since 2014 and has performed in 22 states and over 60 cities across the United States. With a powerful voice and energetic stage presence, his shows are thrilling, taking audiences through a rollercoaster ride of emotion, suspense, and humor.
He has released two full-length records, “There’s No Way Out of Here” and “Crash My Car”. BDP’s records have been said to have “a really solid country sound. Universal, but very personal and intimate” by Last Week’s Album. The Glass Show stated that TNWOH “Embodied all of the [classic sound of country]. [It] came together really nicely.”
Both records have been co-produced with grammy award winning engineer, Charlie Kramsky. Kramsky’s client list includes Americana acts such as Ray LaMontagne, Sarah Jarosz, and Neko Case and popular acts like Paul McCartney and Tony Bennett.
Bo has collaborated with several Americana/Folk musicians, including Greg Butera, Hartley Hall, and Will Wilchar. He has also shared the stage with Texas Country Troubadour Dale Watson.
Bo has traveled all across the country, honing his talents and putting his experiences to song while keeping his style and sound distinctly Americana with a dash of Texican.
