The UST Music Department and the Houston-based violin and piano ensemble The Dancewicz-Doucet Duo present The Story, a concert celebrating the release of The Duo’s debut CD.  Saturday, January 27 at 7:30pm, in UST’s Cullen Hall.

The performance focuses on pivotal music that brought the artists (Dominika Dancewicz – violin and Donald Doucet – piano) together four years ago.

The centerpiece of the evening will be the Violin Sonata by Edward Elgar, which is also the main feature of The Duo’s album. However, the musicians will tell their own story through various pieces of music of different genres, styles and eras.

The program includes music by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Clara Schumann, Grazyna Bacewicz, Josef Suk, as well as some exciting surprises.

The Dancewicz-Doucet Duo has earned steadily growing recognition for their compelling, eclectic and thought-provoking programs that include significant music from every musical era, as well as excursions into jazz and pop.Their concerts enjoy wide popularity amongst Houston audiences for their passionate, highly engaging performances and entertaining interaction with the listeners.

The CD, featuring Violin Sonatas by Elgar, Mozart and Debussy, will be available for purchase.

This concert is free and open to the public.
