H-Town Muse and Patti Lou Richardson present the exhibit, Art: Food For Thought, at the Gallery at West Gray Dental. On view, December 1, 2017 – January 5, 2018. Opening reception, December 1, 6pm – 9pm.
The forty-four artworks — ranging from oil paintings of colorful beets and carrots to sculptural paintings of still life such as avocado, cauliflower, and eggplant to mixed media sculptures of body image and a bee — were inspired by Patti Lou’s journey through life with food and wellness.
Until two years ago, she struggled maintaining a healthy weight even years after beating breast cancer in 2008. Her “aha moment” came after years of pain and other illnesses tied to her diet. She decided to change her life and to live without hurting, so she changed her mindset about food.
A former school teacher, Patti Lou picked up a brush and began painting in 2010 after searching for an art class for her grandson. Her paintings of nature, landscapes, and people are gleaned from her travels throughout her native Texas, across the country, and around the world.
