4 Events to Be Thankful For in November
The holiday season is here, and has thankfully brought some cool temperatures to signal its arrival. As you get into the swing of things preparing your home for out-of-towners (or a suitcase to travel yourself), we hope you will take the time to get out and enjoy all the things going on in Montrose. Here are just four of the events we are thankful for this November:
Nov 14th: The Montrose District Flip the Switch Party
Join us at Niko Niko’s for our Flip the Switch Party! We will have holiday treats, wine, and light bites available at our holiday event. After time for mingling with the community, we will all head out to the median to flip the switch on the holiday decorations along Montrose Blvd. Join us!
Nov 17th: Midnight Movie at River Oaks Theater (No Country For Old Men)
Every weekend, the River Oaks Theater features a different movie starting at 11:59pm on Friday and Saturday. This week, you can catch The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men. Strap on your cowboy boots and practice your best Tommy Lee Jones impersonation, and settle in for a popcorn-crunching good time.
Nov 24th: MFAH Film – Reel Fashion: Bill Cunningham New York
The Midnight Movie isn’t the only feature film worth catching this month. As a tie-in with the Oscar de la Renta exhibit, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is showing fashion films! Join them on the 24th for a screening of Reel Fashion: Bill Cunningham New York. Cunningham, the New York Times photographer of the early 20th century, created a catalog of images that document the catwalks and page 6 parties of his time. Explore what this bike-riding artist was all about, and get some fashion inspiration for yourself at this screening.
Nov 30th: TC Film and Performance at the CAMH
If movies aren’t your thing, perhaps you will enjoy the live variety of the Contemporary Art Museum Houston’s TC Film and Performance. Local Houston teens will be showcasing new theatrical works, experimental films, and new media-style performances during this two-hour event.
