The University of St. Thomas Music Department Presents: The Dancewicz-Doucet Duo along with guest artist: Darrell Parrish Scott Bonasso. Preforming music by: Beethoven, Janaček and Jazz. Saturday November 18, 2017 at 7:30pm
The Dancewicz-Doucet Duo is based in Houston, Texas. Violinist Dominika Dancewicz and Pianist Donald Doucet have earned steadily growing recognition for their compelling, eclectic and thought-provoking programs that include significant music from every musical era, as well as excursions into jazz and pop. Engagements include a regular recital series at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, the Smalley Concert Series in La Grange, Texas, the Good Shepherd Summer Music Festival in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as other local and regional performances.
Ms. Dancewicz, a native of Poland, has performed on the world’s most prestigious concert stages including the Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Carnegie Hall in New York Her recording credits include Dux and Deutsche Grammophon labels. She has performed with the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Houston Ballet, Foundation for Modern Music, Opera Vista, Musiqua, Shreveport Symphony and the Victoria Bach Festival, to name just a few groups. She is also on the roster of the Houston Latin Philharmonic and the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio (COSA). Ms. Dancewicz was appointed the interim concertmaster of the Opera in the Heights for the 2016-17 season. An avid chamber musician, she has performed in an array of music groups in Europe, Asia and the United States. She is a founding member of the Axiom Quartet, currently the String Quartet-In-Residence at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
Donald Doucet has earned music degrees from the University of Houston, where he studied piano with Robert Brownlee, and the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where he studied accompanying with Kenneth Griffiths. He is currently Faculty Accompanist/Organist at St. John’s School in Houston, and Organist at Sugar Land Baptist Church in Sugar Land TX. He has previously held Staff and Faculty positions at The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, San Jacinto College–Central Campus, and Lone Star College—Kingwood. Mr. Doucet is in high demand as recital accompanist, vocal coach, and choir accompanist, and has performed with many of Houston’s leading music ensembles including the Houston Symphony and Houston Ballet.
The Duo recently released their recording of the Elgar Violin Sonata, available for purchase at blondviolin.com and soon distributed worldwide. Their first CD will be released and available in the Fall of 2017
Parking is free on surrounding streets at all times and in outdoor lots after 7PM on weekdays and all day on weekends.
