McGonigel’s Mucky Duck presents the Carolyn Wonderland & Guy Forsyth Christmas Show.

Two of our favorite Texas artists, Carolyn Wonderland and Guy Forsyth, have teamed up to present the special irreverent magic of their annual holiday show at the Duck.

Featuring songs of the season in the style of blues, folk, rock, country and big band, all combined for a completely unique and engaging experience.

Carolyn Wonderland – One of the most impressively powerful voices recently heard anywhere.  Able to boon, cajole, promise and growl with equal power, she plays guitar with much the same forcefulness, incorporating elements of Blues, Country, Swing, Zydeco, Surf, Gospel, Soul, and some nights, maybe even Cumbia.

A musical force equipped with the soulful vocals of Janis and the guitar slinging skills of Stevie Ray, Carolyn Wonderland reaches into the depths of the Texas blues tradition with the wit of a poet.  She hits the stage with unmatched presence, a true legend in her time.

Along with the guitar and the multitude of other instruments she learned to play – trumpet, accordion, piano, mandolin, lap steel – Wonderland’s ability to whistle remains most unusual.  Whistling is a uniquely vocal art seldom invoked in modern music, yet it’s among the most spectacular talents the human voice possesses.

“Carolyn Wonderland is the real deal!  She’s an amazing guitar player.  She whistled a solo.  She even played the trumpet!  And damn, can she sing.” – Los Angeles Times

Guy Forsyth – It’s been a long and dusty, winding road for Austin singer/songwriter Guy Forsyth — one that has led to a recent surge in praise over his dazzling live shows and his rich Americana roots sound.

Forsyth is a modern-day Renaissance man. The insanely talented multi-instrumentalist can put on one hell of a show, alternately dazzling and amusing audiences on a musical journey that ventures from ragtime jazz and Delta blues to socially conscious folk and rollicking modern rock.

You’ll hear powerhouse vocals deliver energetic yarns about love, the government and the apocalypse, to name a few, as Forsyth and company squeeze everything they have into each song and rarely come up for air.
