Houston Police, Montrose District to Boost Patrols Following Orlando Shooting
Following the tragic events in Orlando on Sunday, people are understandably worried about their safety here in Montrose. ABC 13 reports that in response, the Houston Police Department plans to increase patrols in the area:
Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 1’s Alan Rosen said, “We are having more officers that are going to be at some of these clubs that are in the Montrose area, we already provide security for a lot of them and we have been talking to management about increasing our presence there.”
In addition to increased HPD patrols, the Montrose District will be increasing its public safety bike patrols, composed of off-duty HPD officers, from the area around South Beach along Fairview to F Bar. This heightened presence will remain through Pride Month.
