All Night Long
Directed by Basil Deardon
1962, UK
91 minutes
British director Basil Dearden’s psychodrama is a modern update of Othello, which translates the tale of betrayal to one evening in the smoky, mod jazz scene of early sixties London.
Paul Harris and Marti Stevens star as a married bandleader and singer celebrating their anniversary, Richard Attenborough as a wealthy jazz aficionado hosting the celebration, and Patrick McGoohan as a drummer who attempts to tear the interracial couple apart.
All Night Long features music and great on-screen performances by a number of American and British jazz musicians, including Dave Brubeck and Charles Mingus.
