River Oaks Theatre presents a Special Presentation – ALL’OPERA: The Barber of Seville. One Show Only! Screening Tuesday, April 26 at 7pm!
Probably the most famous opera buffa in music history, Gioachino Rossini’s The Barber of Seville is an eternal source of joy.
Director Vittorio Borelli has set the action in its original context, during the time of Beaumarchais indicative of the change in social attitudes before, during and after the French Revolution, but still fully adorned with powdered wigs and silk trousers.
We are in Seville, where the young and beautiful Rosina (Chiara Amarù) is kept locked up by her guardian, Don Bartolo (Marco Filippo Romano), who intends to marry her in order to keep her dowry. However, Rosina is in love with the young Count Almaviva who, with the help of Figaro (Roberto de Candia), will try everything to save her to finally be with his beloved.
Captured live in performance in July of 2015, The Barber of Seville is sung in Italian and presented with English subtitles.
