Rothko Chapel Obelisk Traveling for Maintenance

Bid a temporary farewell to the Broken Obelisk at the Rothko Chapel. The sculpture has been removed, and is headed to its original fabricator in Connecticut for some maintenance work.

According to Glasstire, the metal has suffered corrosion and moisture build-up from the humidity and reflecting pool, and needs to be restored. But never fear: the Broken Obelisk will return in time for the chapel’s annual MLK celebration in 2017.
