Da Camera of Houston presents Brentano Quartet: The Quartet as Autobiography at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

Renowned for his opera and vocal works, the great British composer Benjamin Britten began his third and final string quartet in 1975. At that point, he had not composed for the form in 30 years. Written after his last opera, Death in Venice — quoted in the work’s last movement — the quartet is an intensely moving autobiographical work, a final testament composed in Britten’s last year. The renowned Brentano Quartet also is joined by frequent collaborator Hsin-Yun Huang for Mozart’s masterpiece.

Program
Britten: String Quartet No. 3
Mozart: Quintet in G Minor, K.516

Performers
Brentano Quartet: Mark Steinberg, violin; Serena Canin, violin; Misha Amory, viola; Nina Lee, cello
Hsin-Yun Huang, viola
