2016 Contemporary Italian Film Series: Se Dio Vuole (God Willing)

The Italian Cultural and Community Center presents the 2016 Contemporary Italian Film Series.  The series screens at the Italian Cultural Center, 1101 Milford Street Houston, TX 77006.  Doors open at 6:30pm and films begin at 7:15pm. Movies are in Italian with English subtitles.

The next screening in this film series is Se Dio Vuole (God Willing), directed by Edoardo Falcone starring Marco Giallini, Alessandro Gassman, Laura Morante. (2015 release. 86 minutes).

Plot: Tommaso is a successful, respected surgeon who also happens to be conceited, proud and arrogant and a staunch atheist. However, Tommaso’s pedestal is set to be removed from beneath him when his only son Andrea brings the family together for an entirely unexpected announcement: he wants to become a priest!

Tommaso refuses to accept this newfound Catholicism,and is horrified when his wife Carla and his daughter Bianca undertake a renaissance-of-sorts themselves.

A string of hilarious situations ensues as Tommaso goes undercover while Andrea is absent, on a retreat in a monastery, to investigate and bring down the charismatic pries Don Pietro who he believes “brain-washed” his son and caused an upheavel in the family.
