Nicole Longnecker Gallery presents: ReelArt: The Art of Celebration featuring visual art and photography from The Center of Art and Photography at Celebration Company.  The show runs from January 16 to February 20, 2016 and the Opening Reception is Saturday, January 16 from 5-8 pm.

“This year’s special exhibit is part of the gallery’s community projects program,” said gallery owner Nicole Longnecker, “We believe it is important for the art community to show the power art can have in everyone’s life. The Celebration Company exhibit is a great way to spark conversations about what art can do in our community.”

During the exhibition run, additional family activities are scheduled including: Peace of Art Workshops to make your own paper works of art on Sunday, January 24. Lunch with the Art-Makers on Thursday, February 4. Tickets to both gallery activities supporting Celebration Company programs are available at http://www.ReelAbilitiesHouston.org.

A program of Houston’s Jewish Family Service, Celebration Company is an entrepreneurial program for adults with disabilities. Celebration Company is leading the way is redefining what it means to have a disability and to be a part of the community. Their vision is based on the Jewish principal of ”Kol Yisrael arevim zeh leh zel” which means we are all responsible for one another.

The program’s focus is on the personal development to improve skills in the core areas of: vocation, academics, wellness, and socialization. Celebration Company is a supportive and transitional employment program that maintains best practices in building skills according to goals personalized for each trainee.

The group is unique to Celebration Company in that it gives the individual an opportunity to grow their skills in a supportive, instructional environment that allows each participant to aspire to new heights and self-esteem.

ReelAbilities: Houston Film & Arts Festival, is a FREE city-wide film and arts festival to promote inclusion and celebrate the lives, stories, and talents of people with disabilities – making an impact that lasts far beyond the week of the festival.

Hosted by the JFS Alexander Institute for Inclusion in collaboration with Houston’s Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, a robust and exciting array of films, musicians, special events, and extraordinary speakers from around the world are being featured this year.
