The University of St. Thomas William J. Flynn Center for Irish Studies presents Celtic Hearth Songs with Nóirín Ní Riain and sons. Wednesday, October 21 in UST – Cullen Hall.
Internationally acclaimed spiritual singer and theologian, Nóirín Ní Riain PhD, along with her two gifted sons, Owen and Moley, will give a very rare US performance at UST.
Come to experience and be moved beyond words by the Pure Drop. The sounds that will delight your ears weave seamlessly in and out of their own innate Celtic, Irish sean-nós tradition and the mystical repertoire of Gregorian chant. The family’s singing and musical performances have been described as “absolutely breathtaking.”
Born in Caherconlish in County Limerick on the west coast of Ireland, Nóirín began to take singing lessons at the tender age of seven and studied music at University College Cork, her specialty being religious music.
Her spiritual songs have been a spark of inspiration for so many. Sinéad O’Connor, who collaborated with Nóirín in 2004, said: “Nóirín is my biggest influence and heroine in music.”
