The University of St. Thomas presents its annual Blessing the Animals event Friday, October 2.
Blessing the animals is a much loved tradition that coincides with the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis is said to have loved animals and wrote in his Canticle of the Creatures “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.”
Come and bring your furry, feathered or scaly friend to the University of St. Thomas for fun and a blessing by Father Mike Buentello! If you cannot bring your pet, feel free to bring a photo of your pet to be blessed.
We will gather on the Academic Mall, outdoors in front of the Doherty Library. The ceremony begins at 1:30pm. Please keep all pets on a leash or in an appropriate carrier at all times. Do not bring animals into offices or classrooms unless with permission from all persons who might be affected is obtained.
