The Jung Center presents Stress and Mindfulness: An Introduction.

Why in the world should someone spend time each day just watching their breath? This introductory class will explain why our instinctive reactions to stressful situations only escalate the problems and how all of the disciplines cultivated by mindfulness practices help decrease our stress levels.

You will learn what mindfulness techniques and tools can be used and when to use them.

Note: Veterans, their spouses, and care providers who work to support veterans are welcome to attend this lecture for free, thanks to a grant from the Kempner Foundation.

Stanley Merrill has studied Buddhist philosophy and meditation for 15 years. He has completed the Dharma Apprenticeship Program (DAP) with Anam Thubten Rinpoche, founder and head teacher of the Dharmata Foundation. He attended a teacher training class “Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction,” taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn through the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Mr. Merrill has taught meditation techniques at the Veterans Administration, the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society, The West University Seniors Center, and Chevron.

The Montrose Management District
board workshop meeting scheduled for April 3
has been postponed indefinitely.
