There’s A “Juke Box” In The Middle Of Menil Park And Here’s How To Use It
A literal box — one attached to a tree in Menil Park — is causing a stir since its recent installation. The self-proclaimed “Juke Box” is an “interactive art installation” according to the Houston Press, which illuminated details on the project.
The idea behind the box is straightforward: “leave a mixtape/CD and take another to discover and help others discover new music.” Visual artist, comedian and writer Jacob Calle is the mastermind behind this musical experiment, which encourages the community to interact and exchange.
Calle tells the Press that music is a “strong bonding experience” and that Menil Park was the ideal location because the people that visit would “make it a civil duty to participate in the project.”
