American Pin Up (White Plains, NY)
http://www.americanpinup.net/

American Pinup emerged from the suburban sprawl of Westchester County, New York in 2010 to offer a rousing blend of punk rock and powerpop with seasoned songwriting at its core. Thoughtfully arranged compositions and lyrical depth bolster the band’s radio-ready, exuberant indie rock sound.

Fronted by Lauren West, who unites sultry, melodic crooning with a raspy, rock and roll growl, the band draws on influences from across the spectrum of alternative music, creating an explosive mixture of pop-savvy melody and punk rock attitude. The result is the perfect marriage of hook and edge.

Following two full-length albums and two EPs, multiple nation-wide tours, and countless appearances at festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, The Fest, and SXSW since their arrival on the scene, American Pinup has carved out their own niche in the world of independent music. A tireless, DIY work ethic paired with undeniably infectious tracks and electrifying live shows has propelled the quartet from obscurity to earning a coveted place on theAlternative Press list of “100 Bands You Need To Know” in 2014.

American Pinup will be hitting the road again this fall in support of their new release “The Radio EP.”

“Change Machine is full of songs that could stay with you if you let them in. Remember when pop wasn’t a dirty word and a band like Blondie was catchy, but also dared to examine experimental rock as well? American Pinup write songs with depth, heart, and a direct link to punk rock.”
Morgan Evans – New Noise Magazine

“[Lauren West] has quickly become one of the most captivating frontwomen in the biz.”
Amy Wright – AMP Magazine

“American Pinup run through a multitude of rock genres in their quest to expand their sound… The peppy quartet have no problem being music shape-shifters… ‘A New America’… [is] a sing-along folk-punk song with ample amounts of swagger and heart.”
100 Bands You Need To Know – Alternative Press

“[I]t is a sure bet that if you have not yet heard of American Pinup you soon will. It’s also a good bet that front gal Lauren West may just become the voice of the new decade.”
Brian Shea – AMP Magazine

“[T]his band is the real deal all the way… This live take sounds every bit as good as the studio version. And it’s very clear that Lauren West’s powerhouse voice requires no technological enhancement! I should add that the lyrics to this song completely blew my mind. If one of the major objectives of [The Prava Sessions] is to feature bands with actual talent, then American Pinup is a perfect fit.”
Lord Rutledge – Faster and Louder – Review: American Pinup, “The Prava Sessions”

Freakabouts (Lincoln, NE)
http://www.freakabout.com/

Sometimes a name perfectly sums up the personality and sound of a band. When you hear the music or see the band live, it just makes sense.

FREAKABOUT hails from the bright lights of Lincoln, NE. Migrating from all corners of the state, the band united in early 2011 and has been going full throttle ever since. Fronted by Cortney Kirby, a vocalist reminiscent of the greats of the classic rock era, the band thrusts you into a groove and doesn’t let up. FREAKABOUT makes your body move with aggressive dueling guitar and bass blues-rock riffs and drumming that keeps you guessing as to what will happen next.

Guitarist Aaron Galvan, bassist Alex Drvol and drummer Zach Zoellner lock in to a ground shaking drive that makes Cortney’s soulful melodies soar above and take over a room.

With their first full-length album “Don’t We All” the band proves just how talented and dynamic they can be. Influences from across the music spectrum come together as the sum of their parts blend into heart-pounding rock and passion-filled lyrics that give each song a life of its own. To experience FREAKABOUT is to experience joy, fun, darkness, fear, rebellion and euphoria all at once.

It’s not just a motto, it’s a lifestyle: Don’t freak out, FREAKABOUT!

“FREAKABOUT is made of characters, rather than band members. There’s Kirby, the spunky lead vocalist who can work the crowd. Zoellner is “Nebraska’s Travis Barker,” as Kirby put it, with his over-the-top drumming. Galvan gets in the zone, and when he does, “gold” exudes from his instrument. And Drvol uses his talent to perform whatever his bandmates throw out at him…” – Jourdyn Kaare (Daily Nebraskan)

Refinery Coast (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/refinerycoastmusic

Refinery Coast is a knock-down, drag-out blend of punk, ska, and Southeast Texas flavorings. From all over Houston, Texas, the members are seasoned and skilled musicians seeking to leave their best on the stage every time they perform, and Refinery Coast is the result. The overall aim of the band was to shine a light on an otherwise oft-overlooked facet of the Texas music scene, and Refinery Coast succeeds in doing exactly that.

Be it balls-to-the-wall punk à la Offspring, or that skank’d sound that recalls Less Than Jake, or something in between, it’s all here. You’ve just gotta listen for it.
