George Rodrigue Studios presents Rodrigue: Houston. The family of Louisiana artist George Rodrigue brings the world-renound Cajun artist’s work to Houston with a special memorial exhibition.
The retrospective, which highlights the artist’s deep connection to Texas, begins on Saturday, April 25th, and will be on view in West Ave. at River Oaks featuring seventy-five original works of art, including the artistâs dark Louisiana Landscapes, Cajun genre scenes, and iconic âBlue Dogâ paintings.
In conjunction with this exhibition, George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts presents a Jacques Rodrigue Lecture.

Join Jacques Rodrigue (pictured), Executive Director of George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts (GRFA), as he explains his fatherâs artwork on display at Rodrigue: Houston. Jacques will trace George Rodrigueâs history from his early days in New Iberia, LA, art school in California, early career painting Louisiana landscapes and Cajuns, the origin of Blue Dog and the formation of the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts.
Jacques Rodrigue, graduated from Louisiana State University in General Business Administration and later received his law degree from Tulane Law School in 2007. Jacques currently lives in New Orleans where he also serves as House Counsel for Rodrigue Studio, his late fatherâs art gallery.
As Executive Director of GRFA, Jacques publicly advocates [4004] for an arts-integrated education system, oversees the Foundationâs Annual Scholarship Art Contest for Louisiana high schools students and directs the Louisiana A+ Schools (LAA+) program. LAA+ trains teachers how to teach using arts in every classroom and every subject.
Jacques is also a member of the Louisiana State Arts Council, is the 2013 winner of Louisianaâs Arts Education Award and the 2015 National Arts Educators Association Award for Distinguished Service Outside of the Profession.
During Rodrigue: Houston, Jacques has led a series of Educational Outreach Programs through GRFA.
