A Poem Is a Naked Person
Directed by Les Blank
1974, USA, 90 minutes, DCP
Digitally remastered and officially released for the first time after the filmmaker’s death in 2013, Les Blank’s first feature-length documentary has some critics declaring it the best rock and roll film ever made.
It captures music and other events taking place at Leon Russell’s Oklahoma recording studio during 1972-1974.
Originally a work for hire by Russell while living on Grand Lake of the Cherokees, the documentary features Willie Nelson, George Jones, and some amazing Oklahoma characters.
