George Rodrigue Studios presents Rodrigue: Houston. The family of Louisiana artist George Rodrigue brings the world-renound Cajun artist’s work to Houston with a special memorial exhibition.
The retrospective, which highlights the artist’s deep connection to Texas, begins on Saturday, April 25th, and will be on view in West Ave. at River Oaks featuring seventy-five original works of art, including the artistâs dark Louisiana Landscapes, Cajun genre scenes, and iconic âBlue Dogâ paintings.
In conjunction with this exhibition, George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts presents a Houston Community Art Day.
The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts will be in Houston Saturday, July 4 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm for another Community Art Day!
One of the final events before this wonderful exhibition leaves Houston!
Join us at the new exhibition Rodrigue: Houston for creative activities for the whole family. Make your own Blue Dog mask, color your own Blue Dog, have your face painted, and enjoy original works of art by artist George Rodrigue.
Through the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts, Rodrigue raised $2.5 million benefiting post-Katrina New Orleans through sales of his relief prints. In early 2013 he held his fourth annual statewide art contest for high school juniors and seniors, a contest that attracted 1,500 applicants since 2010 and granted over $150,000 in scholarships, art supplies, and other assistance.
