Our Website Gets A Makeover: New Look, Better Navigation
A new and improved website for www.MontroseDistrict.org launched over the weekend. The overhauled site highlights a content-driven approach that features in-depth reporting about businesses, non-profits, residents, issues, interests, arts, culture and events located within the neighborhood. Meant to generate more overall interest in the Montrose District and its vibrant history and culture — both inside and outside the boundaries of the neighborhood — the website provides a clean, easily navigable platform to distribute information as well as easy access to tools designed for neighborhood improvement. To send in your story ideas for publishing on the site, please email [email protected] for consideration.
Practical Features
In addition to rich content and coverage of the neighborhood as a whole, the new site also provides practical access to businesses and residents. To reach the main menu, just click on the upper left hand side of the website. In the same corner, you’ll find direct access to conveniently pay your assessments online as well as an “Accountability” option.
Keeping all of the District’s business and plans completely transparent to the public it serves, you’ll find links here to the official District service plan, information on the board of directors, committee activities, paid District staff members, direct downloads of board agendas, minutes, board books and patrol reports.
Additionally, graffiti abatement reports along with several maps of the District and its boundaries are downloadable directly from the “Accountability” page.
Scrolling down, on the right hand side of the site — underneath the “Upcoming Events” section — is another important area for neighborhood stakeholders. The “Take Action” section gives direct options for reporting graffiti, viewing graffiti reports, citizen alerts from the Houston Police Department, links to City of Houston services and trespass affidavits. This section is also easily found on the main menu drop-down list.
Mobile Compatibility
With smartphone usage rapidly increasing, it was also important to provide consistent formatting for mobile devices. The new design is uniform across all platforms including smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers, with the main menu options accessible in the top left corner. The site resizes itself appropriately to fit each and every medium. Note that the “Take Action” section mentioned above can be accessed through the mobile view via the main drop-down menu.
The Montrose District invites you to explore the new website, discover the latest events, stories, sign up for the District newsletter or find out what happened at the last board meeting. It’s all accessible on whichever device you choose. Questions or comments? Please let us know at [email protected].
