Cultural District Designation Denied

The District was recently informed by the Texas Commission on the Arts that the District was not selected to be given a Cultural District Designation in 2014.

There were nine applications this year, two were approved and we were one of the seven applicants that did not make the final cut.

As with all projects, this was a learning process and the judges did share where they would have liked to have seen our application expanded upon. This will give us important guidance should we apply again in 2015. In fact, the Deputy Director and several of the judges have encouraged us to apply again.

This project will go before the marketing committee at a future meeting and they will bring their recommendation forward to the Board of Directors for possible action in 2015.
