Funnel Tunnel has staying power
That award-winning public art installation from Patrick Renner and the Art League of Houston isn’t going anywhere anytime soon according to Glasstire.
Originally, the “Funnel Tunnel” exhibition located in the median of Montrose Boulevard was scheduled to run between August of last year and May of this year. However, the City of Houston lent its blessing to the art piece to stay up through at least January of 2015, as it has proven to be a powerful — not to mention beautiful — piece of PR for the city and its thriving art scene. Though the wood it’s made of has weathered nicely, the paint job hasn’t been as fortunate. To keep it looking vibrant throughout the rest of its tenure in the neighborhood, the Art League is scheduling a painting party on July 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All supplies will be furnished and lunch and refreshments are provided for volunteers. All you need to do is show up.
